Awards & Holiday Cheer
We wanted to thank all the members who came out to our Annual Holiday Party & Awards Night. We depend so much on our volunteers, it’s nice to be able to recognize a few that have contributed so much to the success of our organization. This year, we were pleased to honor the following members:
Producer of the Year: Melodie Wing
Melodie was the only real choice for this annual award, having produced dozens of hours of programming over the course of the last year. Melodie is responsible for recording and editing Jenks Center Lectures, the Wright Locke Farm Lecture Series, Winchester Reads events and many, many others. Congratulations to Melodie, who is the first member to ever win this award twice!
WinCAM Advocate Award: John Fleming
A teacher, coach and mentor at Winchester High School, John Fleming dedicates his professional life to the young people of Winchester. Somehow, he also manages to be involved in several other charitable endeavors in town and is a tremendous advocate for our organization. John is a key cog in WinCAM’s relationship with WHS and we appreciate all he does.
Youth Achievement Award: Quinn Shoffner
A student at McCall Middle School, Quinn has been involved with WinCAM for a little over a year. Since he joined us, he has become a prolific independent producer and an invaluable assistant on staff-produced shoots. Quinn has even directed live Winchester Town Meeting coverage. We hope that Quinn will continue to produce at a high level!
On-Air Talent Recognition Award: Melissa Russell
As the former Editor of the Winchester Star, Melissa was a mainstay on WinCAM’s award winning podcast, Viewfinder. Melissa could always be depended on to be prepared and informative during her weekly recording sessions which gave real substance to our flagship podcast. Viewfinder was selected as the Best Audio Program by a national community media organization two years in a row and Melissa was a big part of that success.
Our thanks go out to all the award winners…and to all those who make WinCAM such a great community organization. We’re looking forward to an even more successful year in 2018!
